Yatagarasu 50 sen silver coin, Taisho 7, with certificate of authenticity

The Yatagarasu Silver Coin is the first to feature a design submitted by the public.

The design features a phoenix on either side of the central price on the front, and a yatagarasu in the center of the sun on the reverse.

Due to the high price of silver, it did not circulate.

The Yatagarasu 50 sen silver coin is 24.85 mm in diameter and weighs 6.75 g (800 silver / 200 copper).

It comes with a certificate of authenticity dated 1918.
